Shake Siding
Author: admin // Category: Construction, Home improvement, Restoration and RenovationIn construction, the external façade or appearance of a building is as important as the interior design of it. It may be victorian, mediterraneian, contemporary or modern. The exterior appearance is mostly influenced by the material used especially on the walls or sidings. The materials usually give the effect or the impact desired. For example, in urban cities, glass walls are often used in buildings while brick paneling commercial buildings are usually popular for rural places. In these places especially in the countryside, shake sidings are also popular because of its rustic effect.
There are different types of materials used for shake siding. We could use aluminum, vinyl or wood. Each type its advantages and disadvantages. Aluminum requires little maintenance however since it is metal, it could be easily dented and it has a metallic color so it still needs to be painted. Vinyl also doesn’t require much maintenance and unlike aluminum, it does not need to be painted. What’s also good about it is that if you want to replace it, you can just place it on top of the siding you want to replace. For wood, it requires a lot of maintenance and requires repainting a lot of times. It may also require a lot of replacing since it is not as durable as the aliminum or vinyl. This is why most people use vinyl instead of wood or aluminum. However, the siding that you choose may differ according to the appearance that you like. Usually, wood looks better than the other two though it costs more.
